Kandal Cross
Kandal Cross Shrine aka Jerusalem of the East is a holy Roman Catholic Church, often referred as “Calvary of Tamil Nadu”. The followers believe that the holy church showers blessings to all those who visit there. The shrine covers five acres of land at the outskirts of Ooty.
The shrine includes a life size bronze crucifix, imported from France and installed on a boulder in 1933.The shrine is a sacred pilgrimage for the Nilgiri Catholics.
The cross at the shrine is considered powerful and magical, with ability to cure any fatal disease.
Festivals- Annual feast on 3rd of May, that attracts lots of devotees from across the world.
