Traveling 23 km from Ooty towards the Avalanche village in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu, one may reach this poplar eco-tourism spot. The lake was created in 1823 as a result of a massive landslide (Avalanche) in the area.

the lake is seen as a popular spot for hangouts as it gives a mesmerizing view of the surrounding laden with blooming flowers and rhododendrons. The beautiful lake has a picturesque backdrop to keep everyone stunned by its charm and glory.

The lake also serves as a source for the Kundah Hydro Power stations.

In the vicinity of the lake lies the sanctuary. One may spot varieties of animals like Tiger, Leopard, Gaur, Nilgiri Thar, Sambar Deer, Sloth Bear, Barking Deer, and Nilgiri Langur. The place gives a perfect place for weekend gateways.
