The 55 acres of the plant laden land is true a piece of heaven on earth. Whether you are a plant lover or not, this place won’t send you without a smile back home. The absolute peace to the mind and soul ones get after seeing those tiny varieties of the plant are beyond description. You should not miss this place when being at Ooty. The Government Botanical Gardens was built in 1848 and is now under the Horticultural Department of Tamil Nadu, which maintains it well. The Botanical Garden includes 5 sections- the Lower Garden, the new Graden, the Italian Garden, the Conservatory and the Nurseries.

  • The Lower Garden includes the fern house harboring one hundred and twenty-seven species of ferns.
  • The New Garden houses a rose garden, flower beds and natural ponds with aquatic plants.
  • The Italian Garden has a variety of flowers like Asters, ageratum, balsam, begonia, petunia, pansy, phlox, cosmos, zinnia, and perennial flowers like salvia, delphinium, larkspur, and dahlia.
  • The Conservatory has grouping of various flowers.
  • Nurseries include glasshouses containing immense varieties of exotic plants.

Ooty commences Summer festival, which includes flower show, that attracts lots of tourists at that time from across the country. The other main inclusion of the garden is a 20million Old Fossil Tree trunk and the Toda mund or the Toda hill, that sees thousands of tourists each year.

Tickets-  INR 15/person (Children), INR 30/person (Adults).
