Jorasanko Thakur Bari
The Jorasanko Thakur Bari or the House of the Thakurs (as it literally means) witnessed its construction in the 18th century in Jorasanko of Kolkata. It served as an ancestral home of the renowned Tagore family of Kolkata. The place is famed as a birthplace of Rabindranath Tagore, who was born here in 1861 and spent his entire childhood here. The place is an important tourist spot from the point of history and art. The art lovers can find nearly 700 unique paintings in this house, along with the attractive self-composed invite of Rabindranath Tagore’s wedding. Even there are numerous books, manuscripts, and antique items to be explored. Rabindra Bharati Museum inside the Tagore’s house is the place where one can find all the valuable compositions of Nobel Laureate, Rabindra Nath Tagore. Jorasanko Thakur Bari also commences light and sound shows on all days except Mondays and Thursdays, which can be attended on the trip to this stunning museum.
