Dodabetta Peak
Deriving its name from the Badaga language, Doddabetta means Big Mountain. Doddabetta along with the Snowdon Hill, Club Hill, and Elk Hill makes up the extraordinary Udagamandalam Valley. The gigantic peak stands majestically to 2637 meters above sea level and makes its way at junction of the Western Ghats and the Eastern Ghats. Doddabetta Peak also holds the prestige of being the fourth highest peak in South India. Being the part of Nilgiris, it is the highest peak among the 24 peaks in the Nilgiris. This peak provides an amazing route for trekking with the breathtaking surrounding. The trekkers from around the world prefer this trek because of its alluring beauty. The place also gives serious clicking goals for the photographers. The peak gives an excellent view of the forests of Bandipur National Park and the open highlands of Mysore and Coimbatore. The mountains of Dodabetta carries the Shola forests, medicinal plants, sub-alpine shrubs and ample amount of rhododendrons plants. the peak also has a telescope house to give the visitors a chance to have them a closer and broader view of the beautiful peak. Activities to do here- Walk on the Summit, Bird watching, watching sunrise and sunset, photography, trekking, movie shooting.
