Katiki Waterfalls
Katiki Waterfalls or Katika Waterfalls are spectacular waterfalls near Borra Caves in the Indian province of Andhra Pradesh. It is located at a distance of 7 km from Borra Caves, 39 km from Araku Valley, and about 90 km from the city of Vizag. It is one of the best waterfalls and also one of the famous tourist spots in the Valley of Araku. The falls got its name from the nearby village named Katiki. The Gosthani River forms the Katiki waterfall and it cascades down from a height of more than 100 feet.
The natural landscape around the waterfall is luxuriant and green. You have to cross an uneven track which adds an adventurous aspect to the visitors walking to the waterfall. Therefore, for beginners and intermediate level trekkers, this is an ideal spot for trekking. It would take about 20 to 30 minutes to reach the waterfalls through this route. About 7km from Katiki, the jeeps are also available from Gatevalsa.
On the way, there are several food booths serving snacks and drinks, particularly bamboo chicken and fresh coconut water. The bamboo chicken is a specialty here and you would not be disappointed while stopping and relishing the taste of it.
This location is not accessible by public transport. People visiting should not take their car to the waterfall as the road is uneven and bumpy which is not suitable for regular passenger cars except jeeps. There is no accommodation in the vicinity of the waterfall. The forest honey, as well as other eatables, are also available close to the waterfall. The best time to visit this waterfall is between August and December. In the summer season, this waterfall gets dry.
