The Government Museum
The Government Museum on the Beach Road, at Kanyakumari, was established in the year 1991. The museum is a multipurpose museum with wide collection of uniques and extinct. The museum houses collections about anthropology, archaeology, numismatics, philately, botany, zoology and geology. The artworks from the temples of Southern India has also been preserved here. In the display are the sculptures of Srinivasa, Manickavasagar, Tirumangai Alwar, Rama, etc. Other noticeable inclusions of the museum are Old coins, tribal objects, wood carvings, musical items, zoological and botanical specimens, bronzes, etc. The museum has a dedicated section -Travancore Gallery, which attracts the attention of the tourists having an interest in the history of Travancore.
