Sri Thirunedungalanathar Temple
Travel for 25 km from Trichy, to reach the sacred temple of Sri Thirunedungalanathar Swamy. The temple worships Lord Shiva in the form of Nithya Sundareswarar. Goddess Parvati is worshipped in the form of Mangala Nayagi. The idol of the goddess is in standing posture with four hands and facing south. The interesting fact about the temple is that rays of sun rays fall directly over the presiding deity for three days in Tamil month of Aadi (July/August). The temple also has the shrines of Lord Muruga and his consorts Valli and Deivayani. There are also separate shrines of Saptha Kanniyar, Ayyanar, and Varadharaja Perumal. The temple holds great faith in the hearts of the people and is believed to cure the chronic illness of the devotees who visit here.
