Sri Prasanna Venkatachlapathy Temple – Gunaseelam
Travel for 26 km from Trichy, to reach the famous Sri Prasanna Venkatachalapathi temple aka Abhimana Sthalam, dedicated to lord Vishnu. The temple sits on the banks of River Cauvery. The temple apart from having religious importance also holds the faith of the people of curing mental illness. The deity Prasanna Venkatachalapathi can be seen in standing posture in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The deity has four hands holding Gatha, Conch, and Chakra in three hands and showing Abhaya mudra in the fourth one. The sanctum also has carvings depicting Narasimha, Navaneetha Krishna, Varaha, Sridevi, and Bhudevi. Festivals- The temple commences annual Brahmotsavam in the Tamil month of Puratasi (September – October) for 11 days which sees thousands of devotees. Chitrai Theppotsavam (March – April) and the Pavitrotsavam during the Tamil month of Aavani are other important festivals of the temple.
