Sri Brahmapureeswarar Temple – Tirupattur
Travel for 35 km from Trichy to reach Sri Brahmapureeswar Temple worshipping Lord Brahma. The temple holds a sacred place among the hearts of the people of the state. The people see great faith in the presiding deity here. The temple worships Lord Shiva as the main deity. The temple also worships Goddess Parvathi as Brahma Sampath Gowri. The idol of Lord Brahma is gigantic, with 6 feet in height. The idol poses Lord Brahma in a meditative position. There are numerous stories related to the temple. One of the comments said the story is the worshipping of Lord Shiva by Lord Brahma to release his curse. It is believed that Brahma Ji made 12 lingams of Lord Shiva and worshipped him. These 12 shrines are located in the Bramhapureeshwarar temple complex, named- Sri Bhramapureeswara, Sri Pazamalainathar, Sri Pathalaeswarar, Sri Sudharaneeswarar, Sri Thayumannar, Sri Sabthagereswarar, Sri Kalathinathar, Sri Jambukeswarar, Sri Kailasanathar, Sri Arunachaleeswarar, Sri Ekambreswarar, and Sri Manduganathar. The temple sees seven enclosures till the sanctum. In the Tamil months of Panguni, falling in March- April, the temple experiences a unique view. The sun rays fall directly on the Lingam crossing all the seven entrances for the three continuous days. Festivals- The temple commences various celebrations throughout the year. Few of which are- Brahmotsavam festival, Maha Shivarathri, Kathigai, Navarathri, and Vinayaka Chathurthi. The temple sees grand gatherings then.
