Sigandur

Sigandur locally known as Sigandooru is a small beautiful town located in the state of Karnataka. The place is famous for Sree Chowdeshwari Temple dedicated to Goddess Chowdeshwari. The main speciality of the temple is that three sides are surrounded by the backwaters of Linganamakki dam formed by river Sharavati.

Chowdamma Devi is a special goddess offering protection from theft and the fear of theft to her devotees. There is no other temple or goddess like Chowdamma Devi which offers protection from thievery to the devotees. It’s done by “board of Shri Deviya Rakshane Ide.” Once this item finds its place in your house, it’s like you’re getting a direct line to the pure protection of the goddess. It’s not just about keeping your things safe, like objects, buildings, land, and gardens, but it’s also about keeping you and your loved ones safe too. It’s like having an extra layer of divine care right there with you.

Annual fair at Sigandur

Every year, on the 14th and 15th of January, there’s a special event that draws a big crowd. It’s a yearly fair dedicated to the Goddess Chowdeshwari. Thousands of people come to this event to celebrate and show their devotion. It’s held on Makar Sankranti, which is a really important and lucky time. During this time, you can offer prayers to the goddess and ask for her blessings and protection. It’s like getting a special shield of goodness for you, your family, and even your belongings and land.

A common tradition here is to take a bath in the nearby Sharavati River. It’s like a way of talking to the goddess and expressing your prayers. They call her “Sigandureshwari.” People believe that she listens closely to every prayer said in her name and helps out those who have faith in her. It’s a way of connecting and seeking her guidance.

One of the shining jewels of Sigandur is the Sree Chowdeshwari Temple, a place dedicated to the Goddess Chowdeshwari. But what makes this temple truly special is its location – it’s like it’s cradled by nature itself. Imagine standing there, surrounded by the calm waters of the Linganamakki dam, which were created by the flowing Sharavati River. It’s a sight that captures the heart and soul, and it’s a place you won’t want to miss.
