Satara
Often when we come across the name Chhatrapati Shivaji, we can’t help but imagine a warrior on a horse. This is how we’ve usually seen his statues. A unique one, however, can be seen in Satara, where he is standing beside a canon. Satara, a beautiful city, often called the soldier’s city also has other not-so-common features too. Located at the foot of Ajinkyatara fort in Maharashtra, Satara got its name from the seven mountains that border it.
Bordered by mountains and near the confluence of River Krishna and Venna, Satara becomes a perfect deal for weekend gateways. Also because it’s still an unconventional place, people find more peace in trekking and camping here. Barely 25 kilometers from the city is the Kaas Plateau, known as the Valley of Flowers. It is now a World Natural Heritage site as well. Architecturally too, one gets the chance of being amazed. Thosegar Waterfalls is crowd puller during the monsoon season whereas India’s highest waterfall is 20 km from Satara.
Satara is never a disappointment for its tourists for it welcomes people of all age groups. For people with a sweet tooth, Satara offers its very famous kandi pedha. One must never miss out on trekking and camping opportunities. This beautiful city deserves to be shot and captured in a camera.
