Panitras Samtaber/ Sarat Chandra Kuthi
Panitras Samtaber aka Sarat Chandra Kuthi or Sarat Smriti mandir is the preserved home place and a house-museum of the famous Bengali novelist Sri Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. The place is located in a village named Samta, Howrah.
Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay spent twelve years of his life in this house. This house was thought to be constructed in the year 1923.
The house holds great importance as many famous novel and stories by this famous novelist was framed and written here. Many of these works are even serialized and have been a base for the Bengali and Hindi movies for years.
The house now is preserved heritage-historical site protected under the West Bengal Heritage Commission Act (IX) of 2001. To see here are numerous rooms and the household utensils used by the great writer. One can also see numerous photographs and works displayed here of this great novelist.
