Ooty Lake and Boat Club
Ooty Lake is a man-made lake glorifying the beautiful hill station of Ooty. The Collector of Coimbatore, John Sullivan built this lake in 1824 AD. occupying a wide area of land of about 65 acres, with approximate depth being 40 feet. The lake receives its supply by the mountain streams of the valley of Ooty. The lake was originally constructed for fishing. But it gradually extended its empire and gave place to the bus stand racecourse, and the lake park. The lake gives a surreal view, surrounded all over by the tall Eucalyptus trees and a whistling train running on one side. The perfect location for the gateway, one can think of.
One may indulge themselves in various boating facilities like- rowboats, pedal boats, motorboats, etc. The Summer Festival in Ooty is worth attending. Commences in May, there is a two-day event including boat races and more. Apart from this, there is an adjoining Mini Garden with an amusement park and a toy train for Children. You may also go for Horse riding along the lakeside.
