Lakkidi
Located at 700 m above the sea level Lakkidi is the gateway to Wayanad. This rain forest is also known as the Chirapunjee of Kerala, with an abundance of rainfall throughout the year. This green hill station is best for plantation of spices, tea, coffee, oranges, etc. as it has fertile soil. Lakkidi is the coldest place in Wayanad and also one of the coolest in Kerala, and thus it attracts a lot of people.
The Pookot Lake, one of the freshwater lakes in Kerala, is near Lakkidi. The lake spread over an area of 15 acres is a perfect picnic spot to be with family and friends. The Ficus tree or the Chain tree is another spot visited by many. This tree was chained with a young man’s soul who was being killed during the British rule. There is a lot of lush green spots in and around Lakkidi.
