Kalpetta

Kalpetta, the headquarters of Wayanad, is a major center for tourism activities with many hotels and resorts. Surrounded by lush green coffee estates and mountains with tea plantations, this place is a green carpet that welcomes travelers. Kalpetta means ‘deposits of stones’ as this place has a lot of huge and small rocks all around. There are several tourist attractions in and around Kalpetta. The Mahatma Gandhi Museum, Puliyarmala Jain Temple, Meenmutty Falls, Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, Soochipara falls, Regional Coffee Research Station, M S Swaminathan Research Foundation, Myladippara Trekking center are some of them. The Meppadi Garden village, the perfect spot for mountaineering with beautiful hill stations and tea estates, is located only a few kilometers from Kalpetta. The Chembra Park and Edakkal Caves are also famous spots near Kalpetta.
