Ananthagiri Hills

Ananthagiri is a lovely little hill station between Vizag and Araku Valley. It is located at a distance of 26 km from Araku and about a distance of 85 km from the city of Vizag in the state of Andhra Pradesh at an altitude of 1168 meters. It is one of Araku Valley’s top tourist spots to visit and is also among Andhra Pradesh’s top hill stations. It is one of the most prominent locations for a common weekend getaway from the city of Vizag.

Ananthagiri is a paradise for those who love coffee and nature. The settlement is flanked by coffee plantations that emit the rich fragrance of coffee and the surrounding hillocks that nurtures the lush greenery. The natural climate of these hills is an excellent opportunity to unwind, sit back and rejuvenate.

The surrounding hills are considered to be the place of origination Of the Musi River, which is a tributary of the majestic River Krishna. The hills houses many ancient structures which are cavelike. It also has a lot of ghats for swimming and bathing. The Ancient Temple of Ananthaswamy, dedicated to Lord Anantha Padmanabha, is also located here. Local Legends states that a Muslim King has been involved in constructing this temple for many years.

The famous Caves of Borra are nearby to the Ananthagiri Hill. The peaceful and unexplored environment of the hill station attracts tourists from various parts of the state. The panoramic views that ranged from the sunrise to the sunset, thick forests to mountain ranges cover the route between Vizag to Anantagiri.

Accommodation in Ananthagiri Hills is readily available. In the region, there are different types of resorts and lodges that provide pleasant accommodation infrastructure and services. AP tourism is also running a resort in the village of Ananthagiri. Tyda’s Jungle Bells resort is about 11 km from Ananthagiri and it’s a perfect option to stay. It is possible to reach the hills of Ananthagiri by road and rail. There are also state buses available to get to these hills.
