Kovalam beach

Light house beach
The southernmost beach, the Lighthouse Beach is the one most frequented by tourists and it is the larger of the beaches in that area The main attraction is 35 metre high light house which towers over it a top Kurumkal hillock. Lighthouse Beach got its name due to the old Vizhinjam Lighthouse located on a rocky promontory here. Its intermittent beams at night render the beach with an unearthly charm.
Hawah beach
Hawah beach is Also known as the Eve’s beach ,where blue water sweeps the calm bay which is special to locals as well as tourists.With a high rock promontory and a calm bay of blue waters, this beach paradise creates a unique aquarelle on moonlit nights.
Poovar Beach
Poovar is basically a fishing village and the only way to reach Poovar is through water. Known for its pristine and virginal beauty, Poovar Beach is haunted by those who love solitude.
Samudra beach
A large promontory separates this part from the southern side. Samudra Beach doesn’t have tourists thronging there or hectic business. The local fishermen ply their trade on this part. Since then, Kovalam has been the single major attraction for tourists for many years until other places began to be explored in terms of tourism potential. It is also the first place in Kerala to be featured on the International tourism map in a big way.
Sangumukham beach
Near to the airport and away from busy city, it is a calm and cool atmosphere to spend a peaceful evening.The blue waters hugging the white sand is a mind soothing experience for every relaxing mind.
Varkala beach
This is where divinity meets delectation. Its a perfect place where holiness purifies your mind and renounces evil from heart.Situated 50kms away from capital city it is famous for Janardhana Swamy temple and Sivagiri Mutt established by the social reformer Sree Narayana guru.There are numerous spas and ayurvedic resorts in and around all these beaches.
