Negombo

Negombo sees itself as a city on the west coast of Sri Lanka. The city has seen a golden past as being a prime trading port for the Dutch and the Portuguese. Being a coastal city, the place is adorned with beautiful beached and the plenty of Palm trees lining the borders. The city sees lots of tourists, besides it is away from the hustle-bustle of the main city.

The main attractions of the place are the remains of the 17th-century Dutch Fort that now houses a prison, Negombo Lagoon near the shore, old Dutch Canal etc. Besides, there are also numerous religious centres as Neoclassical St. Mary’s Church, the Angurukaamulla temple etc.
