Anuradhapura sees itself as a major city in Sri Lanka. It stands as the capital city of North Central Province, Sri Lanka and the capital of Anuradhapura District. The city is seen as a sacred one as it holds must importance among the Buddhist devotees. The city is famed for housing a sapling from the Fig tree under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. Also to visit here is the Brazen Palace which holds 1600 stone pillars arranged in 40 rows.
