Lalitpur

Lalitpur aka Patan or Manigal sees itself as the third-largest city of Nepal after Kathmandu and Pokhara. The city is located in the south-central part of Kathmandu Valley, near the Baghmati River. The town holds a rich historical background and is now a friendly city adorned with beautiful cultural values, religious sites, shopping centers, art and craft centers, and multi-cuisine restaurants.

The city is famed for its metalworkers and wood-carvers. One can find the finest-crafted handworks here. The renowned temple here is the Temple of Machendranath in Durbar Square. Apart, there are many more temples and stupas in the city to be visited. To innumerate, there are 55 major temples and 136 Buddhist monasteries in the city. The city is also famed for housing the great Thanka painters of the country.
