It is the southernmost island of Addu Atoll, and the Maldives as well. The most loved and the most revered place at the Maldives is Gan. It is comparatively larger and longer than its sister islands. Gan sees a connection with 3 neighboring islands via an 18 kilometers long road. These islands are Fonadhoo, Kadhdhoo, Mandhoo. The island of Gan has witnessed a great history. The place is still famed for its coconut, banana and papaya farms. The place has archeological importance too. The ruins of the Buddhists viharas were unearthed from here. The southmost coral reef within the Maldives, Addu Atoll is a beautiful yet secluded place that is famous amongst tourists. Gan Island, in turn, is that the southmost island that forms a locality of the Addu coral reef, creating it the southmost island of Maldives still. The glorious island is home to many activities ranging from water sports, snorkeling and diving to local heritage and cultural experiences as well as high-end resorts.
