Howrah Bridge
Howrah Bridge aka Rabindra Setu is the most talked-about bride in the country. Its massive structure that has been standing marvelously since ages make it a prestigious structure to be talked about. The popularity of the city of Kolkata can be dedicated to this massive steel bridge, hanging over the Hooghly River. The bridge holds the prestige of being the sixth-longest cantilever bridges in the world. The bridge was opened for the public on 3rd February 1943. The bridge serves as a commute between the cities of Howrah and Kolkata. This massive structure looks marvelous at night, lite all up with the beautiful sparkling ride. One may take a ferry and enjoy the ride beneath this architectural marvel. It is estimated that over 100,000 vehicles pass through the bridge each day. This engineering marvel does not contain any nut or bolt and is held together all by rivets. The construction cost of this mighty structure is estimated to be about INR 333 crore with the use of 26,500 tons of steel. One must not miss seeing this iconic structure at Kolkata.
