Thirukkurungudi
Travel for 46 km from Tirunelveli to visit the holy place of Thirukkurungudi. Thirukkurungudi makes an antiquist location as the Nambi River flows on the side and the backdrop is the hills of Mahendragiri. The place has lots of religious sites to show. The place houses the Nambi temples. Five of them are named as Ninra Nambi (Standing posture), Irundha Nambi (Sitting posture), Kidandha Nambi (Sleeping posture), Thiruparkadal Nambi and Thirumalai Nambi. The temples are dedicated to lord Vishnu. Among these, Ninra Nambi Temple is the main temple. Another one is the Nambi Rayar Temple or Thirukkurungudi Temple, which is as old as 1300 years and is also known as Vaamana Kshetram. The temples are thought to be constructed by Vijayanagara rulers and the Nayaks of Madurai. Festivals- The temple commences annual gatherings during Brahmotsavam (Mar-Apr), Vasantotsavam (Apr-May), Vaikasi (May-Jun), Pavitrotsavam (Aug-Sep), Float festival (Jan-Feb) and Kaisika Ekadasi (Nov-Dec).
