Merely 70kms from Rameshwaram is this renowned Vishnu Temple also known as Sri Adi Jagannatha Perumal Temple. The temple has its religious, historical and architectural importance as well. The temple has undergone many renovations by Cholas, Pandayas and Sethupathy kings. It is among the rare temples in the world has a statue of the reclining deity. The temple worships Lord Dharba Sayana Rama, and also Goddess Padmasini, Goddess Shridevi, Goddess Bhudevi, and Lord Krishna. The temple shows an excellent example of the Dravidian style of architecture.
