Thousand Lights Mosque
The Thousand light mosques were built in the 19th century, by the Wallajah family of the Carnatic rulers, Built beautifully in typical Islamic pattern, the mosque looks incredible when it is illuminated with thousand oil lamps. The mosque has majestic domes and high minarets. The inside of the mosque includes a separate prayer hall for men and women. The shrine or Dargah worships Imam Hossein and sees thousands of devotees from around the world all year long. The walls of the sacred mosque are decorated with the lines of the Quran.
The Thousand Lights Mosque is regularly visited by the Muslims of the region for daily prayers and also has a special place in the hearts of the Shia Muslims. The mosque also houses a burial ground for the Shia Muslim families. Festivals- The mosque witnesses special gathering during the month of Ramzan and the festival of Muharram.
