Thiruttani
Travel for 44 km from Kanchipuram to reach Thiruttania, a holy town in the Tiruvallur District of Tamil Nadu.
The town is known by the sacred temple it holds- the Murugan Temple. The temple holds the prestige of being one among the six Padai Veedus (Battle Grounds) of Lord Murugan.
The place also holds a religious significance as it is believed that Lord Subramanya married Valli here.
The town holds various religious stories singing its praise and religious importance.
The hill temple enshrines Aapat Sahaaya Vinayakar who is said to help Lord Murugan in winning Valli’s hand in marriage. Lord Murugan makes his place in a Rudraksha tower.
The image of Subramanya, decorated all with green stones is worth appreciating.
The temple also enshrines Devi Valli and Devayani. Behind their sanctum is the child-god Sri Aadhi Balasubramanian.
The temple also holds the unique statue of Lord Bhairava along with his 4 dogs representing 4 Vedas.
Festivals- The temple sees the huge gathering and grand celebrations during the Aadi Krittikai festival, the Float Festival, Brahmotsavams, Valli Kalyanam, Skanda Sashti ,and Thai Pusam.
