Stupa of Sanchi
Listed in UNESCO as the world heritage site, the Stupa of Sanchi is one of the oldest Buddhist monument of the state. History reveals that the great Stupa was built by the Emperor Ashoka of the Mauryan Dynasty, in the 3rd century B.C. The Stupa is an excellent example of the richness of Buddhist culture and art.
The Stup of Sanchi has a sacred place in the hearts of the Buddhists as the Stup houses the sacred remnants of lord Buddha. The sculpture has undergone numerous renovations over time. The mighty dome stands amidst the four gates. The height and the diameter of this dome are calculated to be 50ft and 30 meters respectively. The four gates are the preachers of love, courage, trust, and peace. The Stupa witnesses thousands of tourists and devotees visiting in the search of inner peace. The place is often flocked with the group of students studying history or architecture.
