Ratnagiri
The first thing that strikes you when you hear “Ratnagiri” is not anything other than beautifully yellow, sweetened spheres of satisfaction- mangoes! Mango lovers know how Ratnagiri and its mangoes are synonymous to each other’s existence.
Ratnagiri, a splendid port city in Maharashtra is a must-go-to place for anyone who’s coming to Maharashtra. It is well connected to Mumbai with all modes of transport, so it also serves for a perfect weekend getaway for Mumbaikars. Ratnagiri is so versatile, providing tourists with almost everything they could ask for. From beaches to temples to forts and museums, it has it all.
Bhatye, a small village near Ratnagiri is famous for flat sea showers and so it offers a clean stretch for blissful beach-ing. Kunkeshwar Beach, one of the most scenic and serene beaches makes for an absolutely aesthetic evening. The temple there attracts quite a handful of pilgrims during Mahashivratri. Guhagar beach is a picnic spot because of its white spot, for both the localities and tourists.
For history buffs and children curious to know more, Ratnagiri offers the Fort of Victory – Jaigad (Jai means victory). Apart from this, Bal Gangadhar’s place of birth, now called the Tilak Ali Museum also is worth a visit. The Thiba Palace is another very cozy place to be at, alongside the Ratnadurga Fort.
Ratnagiri is just an underrated place to visit with friends.
