Mumbai
India’s lifeline is Bollywood and Bollywood’s lifeline is Bombay.
It’s a city that never sleeps and is a melting pot for diverse cultures and dreams. While the city keeps bustling with the sound of the local train, taxiwalas, dabbawalas, and mausis during the day, it offers a beautiful nightlife as well that makes Mumbai so safe. It is both the financial and entertainment capital of India, alongside also offering opportunities for tourists like Gateway of India, Marine Drive, Elephanta Caves, Haji Ali Dargah, Siddhivinayak Temple, and a number of beaches.
This city, which people abroad confuse to be the capital of India, has always been of great importance for the nation. Its human habitation dates back to the Stone Age when a Marathi fishing community occupied this place. This megacity composed of seven islands has been a prime location for many indigenous rulers like Mauryans, Satvahanas and Chalukyas before falling into the hands of foreign invaders like Portuguese and English East India Company. The British architecture in the city that stays in its original form today still grabs the maximum tourist attraction.
Mumbai is known to most with its monsoon, which half of the population finds to be dreadful while the other half loves it to the core. The most appropriate time for tourists is between the months of September and March when the city is done dealing with its drainage system.
The city is very well connected internally and externally, offering all three modes of transport, making it a pleasant and easy traveling experience.
