Mahesh Jagannath Temple
Mahesh Jagannath temple in Hooghly is a sacred Hindu temple in the state of West Bengal. The temple holds equal importance as the Jagannath temple of Puri.
The temple is thought to be built by the Drubananda Brahmachari. The temple holds many mythological stories behind its existence. People narrate stories about this saint and his dreams. This ancient Hindu temple holds two sets of idols of the deities. The original is a 600-year-old. For the Chariot festival, another set of an idol is used.
The Chariot at Mahesh is huge and four-storeyed. The chariot has nine towers and 12 wheels made of iron and wood.
