Koteshwarnath Temple
Gaya holds the famous Baba Koteshwarnath Temple. The holy temple sees its place on the confluence of the river Morhar & Dargha in Gaya. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The holy temple is thought to be built around the 8th century AD. The prime attraction of the temple is its sanctum, which is carved in a single piece of red stone. the sanctum sees a large-sized Shivalinga with around 1,008 miniature Shivlingas dating around 1200 years back. The temple holds numerous sacred stories behind its construction and existence. The temple holds a sacred place in the hearts of the people and they believe that the Lord fulfills everyone’s wishes who pray him with devotion. The inclusions of the temple are Garbhagriha (sanctum), a stambh-mandap (pillared haal) and Mukhmandapa (frontal porch). The temple has a newly constructed Shikar (spine) flaunting Dravidian Style of architecture.
