Jalpaiguri Rajbari
The city of Jalpaiguri holds a major tourist attraction -Rajbari. The Rajbari is a Palace which used to be the residence of Raikats who were the rulers of Baikunthapur estate. The palace is known for its beautiful architecture.
Apart from the palace are two temples, gardens and a portico on the premises. The palace garden is adorned with a beautiful pond. The architecture of the Palace has earned world fame. The Place holds a concrete gateway and is one of the largest un-reinforced concrete archways in the world.
Presently, most of the properties have undertaken by the Government of West Bengal for restoration. Although a small portion of this royal building is still under the control of the family of Rani Ashrumati’s descendants. They perform the royal family rituals and customs here even today.
