Jaina Kanchi Or Tiruparuttikunram
Travel for 7 km from Kanchipuram to reach Thirupparuthikunram, which houses two ancient Jain temples. The temple worships Vardhaman Mahavir and Chandra Prabha.
The Vardhaman Mahavir Temple is believed to be constructed back in the 6th century. The temple saw some renovations by the Chola kings. To look in the temple is a great idol of Bhagwan Mahaveer, which is about 6 feet high and posses that god in sitting posture. The temple houses numerous paintings sting back to 14th and 17th centuries.
Chandra Prabha Temple is believed to be built during the 8th century, during Rajasimha Pallava’s reign. The temple is dedicated to Tirthankara ‘Chandraprabha’. The temple also houses a 2000 years old tree which is a true attraction.
The temple is now under the Tamil Nadu State Archaeology Department.
