Global Vipassana Pagoda
World’s largest meditation hall for Vipassana meditators, the Global Vipassana Pagoda in Mumbai is a Meditation Dome Hall. It can seat around 8,000 meditators. It was inaugurated in 2009 by the then President of India Pratibha Patel.
This monument, which symbolizes peace and harmony, enshrines Budhha’s original bone relics. What’s worth noting is that it was built through voluntary donations and its purpose was crystal clear- to spread Gautama’s teachings and inform people about Vipassana.
There is no entry fee, and even photography is permitted. Photographers and tourists are usually seen standing in awe of the architecture, held firmly on the ground with the peaceful aura. Tourists too, subscribe for a day’s course to add value to their vacations.
It’s a place many tourists don’t know about, but when you are there, there’s no place you’d rather be at.
