Ghagar Buri Chandi Temple
The sacred Hindu temple of Ghagar Buri Chandi is situated on the banks of river Nunia, on Kali Pahadi in Asansol. The temple is said to be built during 1620.
Goddess Ghagar Buri is beloved to be one of the incarnations of Goddess Chandi and thus is visited by the goddess Chandi devotees as well. The temple sees huge devotees visiting to seek blessing from the goddess every day. The temple holds great faith in the hearts of the local people.
The temple is beautifully carved representing the Bengali style of architecture and a place for true spirituality. Apart from the shrine of the main goddess, there is also a shrine dedicated to Lord Ram along with Goddess Sita, Lord Hanuman, and Lakshman.
The temple worships the goddess in the form of a stone. There are three stone gods in a row, of which the middle stone is the Goddess Ghagar Buri, to her left is Goddess Annapurna and to her right is Panchanan Mahadev.
Festivals- The temple commences grand celebration and gathering on Durga puja and Diwali. Goddess is offered with red cloth, flowers, kumkum, incense, milk and fruit to be pleased.
