Dungaeshwari Hills aka Mahakala Caves is a place of religious importance in Gaya. It is believed that it is the place where Lord Buddha spent several years before descending to Bodhgaya. The holy caves see its place along River Phalgu. The destination, as well as the journey to the cave, is very interesting and scenic. These caves include several Hindu and Buddhist temples and stupas. There is a golden Buddha sculpture in one of the caves, which attracts everyone’s attention. The cave also holds an idol of Hindu goddess ‘Dungeshwari’. These mountains also offer a great place for trekking and also the scenic beauty of the place is worth appreciating.
