Chandannagar Museum
Chandannagar Museum is located on the Strand Road, Hooghly. This is a reputed museum of the city that was established in the 19th century by the then French Prime Minister Pompidre and Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
The museum showcases the local history of Chandannagar, including the important archaeological discoveries in the district since the Gupta era.
Chandannagar Museum and along with Indo-French Institute makes a must-visit place in Hooghly. In the gallery, one can witness documents related to the French East India Company, French furniture, French periodic administration, and Indian art and crafts. This art gallery and museum was opened for public in 1956.
