Bandel
Bandel is a famous town founded by Portuguese settlers in Hooghly. The town falls under the jurisdiction of Chandernagore Police Commissionerate.
Bandel holds The Bandel Church, which is famed to be one of the oldest Christian churches in West Bengal. The holy Church is a memorial to the Portuguese settlement in Bengal. The Church is dedicated to Nossa Senhora do Rosário, Our Lady of the Rosary. It is believed to be built around 1660 and thus has religious and historical importance as well. The Church is worth paying a visit.
The place is also known for its Imambara.
