Aurangabad

Aurangabad, named after the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb is one of the most outstanding tourist destinations in Maharashtra and in terms of beauty and exploration is second to none.

Declared as the tourism capital of Maharashtra, Aurangabad is surrounded by endless places of historical importance and artistic splendor. A remarkable feature of this heritage city is the 52 historic gates which give the city its nickname – the’ city of gates’, like the Delhi gate which is located near the serene Salim Ali Lake and bird sanctuary. It also has the distinction of being the only place in India with two world heritage sites i.e. the Ajanta and the Ellora caves which are popular all over the world. It is one of the largest rock-cut monastery-temple cave complexes in the world and it features Buddhist, Hindu as well as Jain monuments.

Aurangabad is also home to various other historical monuments like the Bibi-ka-Maqbara, Panchakki, Grishneshwar temple, Tomb of Aurangzeb, Chand Minar, Soneri Mahal, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum, etc. Besides historical exploration and pilgrimage, there are a plethora of activities to be experienced. Aurangabad is filled with pubs, restaurants, and hotels with pools, indoor games, and massages and together it makes up for a perfect holiday destination.

Even though it’s a city, it is tranquilizing and dreamy and you are guaranteed to have a perfect getaway.  It is not only a spot for history lovers, but Aurangabad also does not fail to make you fall in love with itself and make you wish you could stay a little longer.
