Antpur Radhagovindjiu Temple
Antpur, Hooghly hola a very attractive and beautiful Hindu temple. The holy temple is that of Radhagovindjiu with exquisite terracotta carvings over the walls. These carvings depict stories from the 18 Puranas of Hindu. One can relate many stories heard during childhood to these beautiful depictions.
The temple is 100 feet high and thought to be constructed by Krishna Ram Mitra, the Diwan of Bardhaman Raj in 1786 (1708 Shakabda). The Chandi Mandap and Dol Mancha aside the temple are adorned with beautifully crafted wood carvings. Besides the main temple of Radhagovindjiu is the temples of Gangadhara, Fuleswara, Rameswara, Jaleswara and Baneswara to be visited.
