Anayirangal Dam Munnar is place of scenic lush green carpet of tea plants. A trip to the splendid reservoir is surely an unforgettable experience. It is surrounded by tea plantations and evergreen forests. The dam got its name as it is here where the elephants came down from nearby forests to drink water.
The dam and the lake are visited by a lot of tourists who love to enjoy the scenic beauty of high ranges to its best. Recently, it was promoted as a tourism destination by the KSEB which controls the dam. Being a newly developed tourist attraction, it’s not that crowded.
The dam area maintains a park and it is an ideal place for the family. The park entry fee is as follows

Four Wheeler – Rs. 30
Two Wheeler – Rs. 10
Mini Bus – Rs. 50
Anayirangal Dam Boating
Pontoon boats and speed boats are available for boat riding. A boat ride will take you closer to the thick forests and give you a better view of the natural beauty. If there are animals sighted, the boats will take closer to them. Online boat booking is not available for this location
Boating rates is as follows
Speed Boat (15 Minutes) – 5 Persons (Including children) – Rs. 750/-
Pontoon Boat (30 minutes) – 20 Seater (Including children) – 1600/-
Life Jacket is compulsory and is provided in all boats.
Anayirangal Dam boating timings : 08:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs
It can be visited any time of the year. During and after monsoon, the reservoir will be full and will give a nice view of the high level of water. During peak of summer, the water level will go really down.

By Bus: Buses are available to Poopara from Munnar and Theni.
By Road: You can come in your private vehicle up to Sengulam boating. (Kothamangalam -> Adimali -> Iruttukanam -> Anachal -> Sengulam Boating)
