Kalutara

Kalutara aka Kalutota is a major city and the administrative capital of the Kalutara District, Western Province, Sri Lanka. The city has beaches to be enjoyed which also offers numerous water activities to the enthusiasts. Another attractive site to be visited here is the Kalutara Temple. The tree sees a great devotion from the Buddhist devotees. It is believed to originate from one of the saplings of the Sri Maha Bodhi tree in Anuradhapura. Here Lord Buddha attained Enlightenment in Buddha Gaya, India.
