Colombo

Colombo sees itself as the capital of Sri Lanka. The ancient east-west trade routes saw Colombo as the chief port. It has thus been a major trading and commercial centre of the country. The city holds a vivid history. It has seen numerous rulers over its land as Portuguese, Dutch and British. The essence can still be smelled in its architecture, mixing colonial buildings and the high-end shopping malls.

One of the most revered and popular destinations here is the Colombo National Museum. The museum depicts the rich Sri Lankan history and holds collectables relating to its culture and tradition. Another important amusement centre Viharamahadevi Park also known as Victoria Park. The park confines beautiful flowers and the walkways and a giant Buddha statue to be appreciated.
