Jomsom aka Dzong-Sampa or New Fort is a village in the Annapurna mountains of Nepal. The village is tucked at height of about 2,700 m in Mustang District and extends over both the banks of the Kali Gandaki River. The village is usually flocked by the trekkers trekking along the Kali Gandaki River valley as well as up to Muktinath on the Jomsom-Muktinath Trek. The trekkers love this place because of the scenic views it offers and the rich culture the place holds. One of the most mesmerizing thing about the place is it holds the deepest gorge in the world carved by the Kali Gandaki River. The gorge is said to originate from the Tibetan plateau and eventually flow into the Ganges in India. Jomsom is also famed for its airport that connects to Pokhara.
