Punakha
The mountain town or the feeder town of the country, Punakha, is the important place to be visited in Bhutan. The town is tucked in the Himalayan of Bhutan and also famed for producing an ample amount of rice for the country. The main attraction here is the 17th century’s forts of Punakha Dzong. Also to visit here are nearby Punakha Valley, Chimi Lhakhang, and the hilltop Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. Punakha Dzong is also an administrative centre of Punakha District and holds great importance. The town also offers numerous adventure activities for the tourists. One can go hiking on the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten to witness the mighty temple. Chimi Lhakhang Temple and Punakha Suspension Bridge also make an ideal place to go exploring on foot. White-Water Rafting is the activity one must not forget doing here. Mo Chhu river and the Po Chhu River offer excellent sites for it.
