Jakar
Jakar aka Bumthang sees its place in the central-eastern region of Bhutan. The town holds a beautiful fortress Jakar Dzong/ Yuelay Namgyal Dzong, which overlooks the Chokhor valley. The place holds many mythological stories too behind its existence. The town of Jakar saw a massive fire in 2010 and thus is ornamented with newer shops mostly. There are numerous monasteries to be visited nearby. Jakar is a town that lies in the heart of Bhutan. It is that the district capital of the polar Bumthang district likewise because of the location of the Jakar Dzong that is the regional defense of the dzong. Roughly, Jakar translates to ‘white bird’ which is about the foundation myths. According to a prevalent myth here, a roosting white bird signaled the auspicious and proper location to locate a monastery here in 1549. It is a great base for easy day trekking to nearby monasteries where you can enjoy the stunning scenery. Famous for the assembly of honey, cheese, apples, and apricots, Jakar is a motivating place to pay some days.
