Chitrakot Waterfalls, situated on the Indravati River in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district, is a stunning natural wonder. With a height of 90 feet, this mighty waterfall, taking its birth from the Indravati River of the state, cascades down to 30meters to create a breath- taking pool of water underneath.

Stretching nearly 300 meters horizontally, including three gigantic water streams, the water falls from the cliff making a loud roar and falling onto the pool with numerous droplets of water staying in the air, making a jaw- dropping scene of fog covered atmosphere. the waterfall showcases a unique feature: it appears reddish during rainy days and turns a pure white under the summer moonlight. Located 40 km away from Jagdalpur and 273 km from Raipur, it’s the largest waterfall in Chhattisgarh and a major attraction of the Bastar division.

Often referred to as the “Niagara of India” due to its horse hoof-like shape, the waterfall captivates tourists with its cascading water amidst dense forests and the Vindhya ranges. The beauty of Chitrakot waterfalls is accessible throughout the year but witnessing it during the rainy season brings an exhilarating experience as the roaring water creates an awe-inspiring sight.
