Manali

Manali is a Valley nestled in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh near the northern end of the Kullu Valley, at an altitude of 6,726 ft in the Beas River Valley. It is a popular tourist destination and serves as the gateway to Lahaul & Spiti district as well as Leh.

Hidimbi Devi Temple

It is also known variously as the Hadimba Temple and is an ancient cave temple dedicated to Hidimbi Devi, wife of Bhima, a figure in the Indian epic Mahabharata.

The temple is surrounded by a cedar forest at the foot of the Himalayas. The sanctuary is built over a huge rock jutting out of the ground which was worshiped as an image of the deity. The structure was built in 1553.

Bhrigu Lake

It is a lake located at an elevation of around 14,100 ft to the east of Rohtang Pass. It can be reached by trekking either from the Vashishth temple, which is famous for its hot water springs.

It is actually an area of the Pir Panjal mountain range and it is named after Maharishi Bhrigu, the sage who used to mediate near the lake. Hence it is considered sacred and the locals believe that due to this the lake never freezes completely.

Solang Nala

It is a side valley at the top of the Kullu Valley on the way to Rohtang Pass, and is known for its summer and winter sport conditions. The sports most commonly offered are Parachuting, Paragliding, Skating and Zorbing.

Giant slopes of lawn comprise Solang Valley and provide its reputation as a popular ski resort. During summer skiing is replaced by zorbing, paragliding, parachuting and horse riding. Going to the summit can be possible by ATVs, Ropeway or Trekking

The Pandoh Dam

It is an embankment dam on the Beas River completed in 1977 and its primary purpose is hydroelectric power generation. The water is used for power generation at the Dehar Power House before being discharged into the Sutlej River, connecting both rivers.

Rohtang Pass

It is a high mountain pass with an elevation of 13,050 feet on the eastern Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas around 51 km from Manali. It literally means pile of corpses, due to high mortality in bad weather while crossing the pass.

It connects the Kullu Valley with the Lahaul and Spiti Valleys of Himachal Pradesh.
