Gulmarg

Gulmarg is a town, a hill station, situated in the Pirpanjal range in the western Himalayas a popular skiing destination and a notified area committee in the North Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.It is the “heartland of winter sports in India” and was rated as Asia’s seventh best ski destination.

Apharwat Peak

It is a summit, situated at a height of 14,403 feet above the sea level. It receives heavy snowfall and remains covered with snow for much of the year.

The Line of Control (LOC) is barely a few kilometres away from here. Lying in the second phase of the cable car ride from Gulmarg, reaching this spot is highly dependent on the weather conditions.

Gulmarg Gondola

It was built by the French company Pomagalski and it is one of the highest in the world reaching 3,979 metres. The two-stage ropeway ferries about 600 people per hour to and from Gulmarg to a shoulder of nearby Mt. Apharwat Summit which is 13,780 feet. A chair lift system connects Kongdoori with Mary’s shoulder for taking skiers to higher altitude.

Outer Circle Walk

The road runs around the Gulmarg golf course and covers almost everything that Gulmarg has to offer. It takes around two and half to three hours to finish the walk at a leisurely pace.

During the walk you’ll get splendid views of snow covered peaks including the Nanga Parbat which at roughly 8,500 meters is the fourth highest peak in the world.

A number of attractions of Gulmarg like the main market, children’s park, Shiva temple and the Ice skating rink can be covered during the outer circle walk and a few detours from the main outer circle road.

Ningle Nallah

This beautiful stream is situated close to Gulmarg. It gets its water from the melting ice caps of the Alpathar Lake and Apharwat Lake in the summer season. It then flows into the River Jhelum, close to Sopore.

Snow capped mountains, the tall pine trees, blooming flowers and the many lakes just constitute the beauty of this dream-like location. The lush green gardens, landscapes, beautiful and pleasant climate and those many lakes just add to the beauty of this paradise and attract most number of tourists. This is the best picnic spot for those who wish to enjoy the calm and tranquil location with their loved ones.

Ferozepur Nallah

This scenic stream is placed between the Nurpur and Chinamarg pass. It is possible to reach till Ferozepur Nallah from Tanmarg or from the circular walk.
